"Glee" actor Mark Salling was arrested on suspicion of child porn possession on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Police Department told the
Los Angeles Times.
Salling, 33, was taken into custody by the police department's Internet Crimes Against Children task force, said the Times. The task force served a search warrant at his home in Shadow Hills, officer Tony Im told the Times.
Authorities reportedly found thousands of related images at his home.
Salling was released on $20,000 bail from the Metropolitan Detention Center after his arrest, said
Us Weekly. Salling's family posted the $2,000 needed for the bail, said
TMZ.
Salling could face up to five years in prison if he is convicted of being in possession of more than 600 child pornography images, said TMZ.
The syndicated show
"Crime Watch Daily" said police went to Salling's residence on Tuesday morning, used a battering ram to force entry, and then arrested the actor.
Salling's computer and electronic devices were taken after the actor refused to give authorities his password. Police sources said detectives found "hundreds" of images on one of Salling's personal devices.
Salling was known for portraying Noah "Puck" Puckerman on "Glee," which aired its season finale in March 2015.
Salling's arrest comes on the heels of former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle being sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison after he admitted to receiving child pornography and having sex with minors, said
NPR.
Russell Taylor, who headed Fogle's foundation, also was sentenced to 27 years in prison for producing child pornography and one count of distributing it, said the
Indianapolis Star.
