Mark Wahlberg, a Father of 4, To Host Kids' Choice Awards

Star of the war film "Lone Survivor," Mark Wahlberg, will host of Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards, which will air live form Los Angeles on March 29, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Wahlberg, who is a two-time Academy Award nominee, is also a father of four kids.

"We are thrilled to welcome a superstar like Mark Wahlberg as he takes the helm as our master of ceremonies at the biggest kid event of the year," Nickelodeon's president of content development and production, Russell Hicks, said. "We can’t wait for him to host and have lots of slime-filled fun with Hollywood’s biggest stars and our audience."

Past hosts include Will Smith, Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, Justin Timberlake, Rosie O’Donnell, Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers and Ben Stiller.

"Lone Survivor" has been a hit for the early 2014 movie season, drawing $96.7 million at the box office since Christmas, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. 

Wahlberg was nominated for a Best Motion Picture Oscar with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman for the movie "The Fighter," which earned Oscars for Christian Bale (Best Supporting Actor) and Melissa Leo (Best Supporting Actress).

Wahlberg was also nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for the 2006 movie "The Departed," which won the Oscar for Best Motion Picture in 2007.

Wahlberg will star next in the latest "Transformers" installment, "Transformers: Age of Extinction," in June. The sequel to his comedy "Ted" and the movie "The Gambler" will hit theaters in 2015.

The Boston-raised actor began his career as the front man for the musical group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, and has been making a name for himself behind the camera as well. He was formerly the executive producer of "Entourage," "How to Make it in America," and currently "Boardwalk Empire."

The reality television series "Wahlburgers," executive produced by Mark Wahlberg, goes behind the scene of the family-owned restaurant where his brother Paul Wahlberg is the head chef.
