A blogger poring over photos from NASA's Mars Curiosity rover has spotted what appears to be a rat or a lizard, or some sort of creature with legs and a tail, among the rocks scattered on the planet's surface.
User "ScottCWaring" detailed his find on the UFO Sightings Daily website.
"This…seems to resemble a rodent but also may be a lizard," he wrote. "With water existing on Mars in small amounts, it's possible to find such desert animals wandering around."

The creature in the photo is similar to another one "ScottCWaring" spotted in 2012, though that one appeared to be a squirrel.
"Note its lighter color upper and lower eyelids, its nose and cheek areas, its ear, its front leg and stomach. Looks similar to a squirrel camouflaged in the stones and sand by its colors," he wrote. "Hey, who doesn't love squirrels, right?"
Earlier this year, NASA revealed that the Curiosity rover uncovered signs that life may have once existed on Mars.
NASA scientists cited a rock sample the rover analyzed in February that contained elements necessary for supporting life.
"We have characterized a very ancient, but strangely new 'gray Mars' where conditions once were favorable for life," John Grotzinger, Mars Science Laboratory project scientist at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, Calif., said in a statement at the time. "Curiosity is on a mission of discovery and exploration, and as a team we feel there are many more exciting discoveries ahead of us in the months and years to come."
