Twitter has reversed course on Marsha Blackburn's campaign ad for Sen. Bob Corker’s seat in Tennessee that mentioned her anti-abortion position, and will now allow her to tweet it.
Blackburn mentioned in her campaign ad that she stopped "the sale of baby body parts," referencing her opposition to fetal-tissue research and Planned Parenthood, the The Washington Post and Fox News said.
"I'm 100 percent pro-life. I found Planned Parenthood, and we stopped the sale of baby body parts — thank God," Blackburn said in the ad, per Fox News.
The technology website Recode reported that Twitter initially rejected the ad, calling it "inflammatory" and that it violated the company's ad guidelines.
By Tuesday, Twitter reconsidered Blackburn's ad, according to the company's statement to Recode.
"After further review, we have made the decision to allow the content in question from Rep. Blackburn's campaign ad to be promoted on our ads platform," a Twitter representative said in a statement to Recode.
"While we initially determined that a small portion of the video used potentially inflammatory language, after reconsidering the ad in the context of the entire message, we believe that there is room to refine our policies around these issues. We have notified Rep. Blackburn's campaign of this decision," the statement continued.
Even though the ad was temporarily banned, Twitter had allowed Blackburn to post the ad as a general tweet, stating that its rules for post were different that it was for sponsored ads, the Washington Post wrote.
Blackburn told Fox News that she believed public pressure played a role in Twitter changing its direction.
"I think what has happened, the American people rose up," Blackburn told Fox News. "They are sick and tired of the liberal elites and the liberal media telling them what they're going to listen to, and what is going to be pushed forward and broadcast and what is not, and in this example it was Twitter.
"And now they have reversed their decision after the American people have joined me in standing up to them, and they are going to allow the video to stand and us to push it forward," she added.
