A release date has been set for Netflix's "Marvel's The Punisher" series: Nov. 17, the same day DC's "Justice League" film releases in theaters.

Netflix had promised the series would be released this year but had not previously set a release date.

The streaming giant canceled a handful of "Punisher" events including a New York Comic Con panel after the Las Vegas shooting earlier this month. The series, which follows vigilante Frank Castle, a military veteran who fights criminals on his own after his family was murdered, features bloody, realistic killings that some thought might be difficult to watch with wall-to-wall press coverage of the shooting, which killed 59 people and injured hundreds more.

Jon Bernthal plays the title role in the series; his character was introduced during Season 2 of "Daredevil," also on Netflix. Bernthal also appears on “The Walking Dead” series.

"The Punisher" has been teased since April. Trailers for "Justice League" have run since the summer.

Twitter fans picked their sides, although some didn't mind the tandem release.
