Maya Rudolph's National Anthem Channels Beyonce

Maya Rudolph lampooned Beyoncé and other singers with a funny rendition of the national anthem at Tulane University’s graduation commencement on Saturday.

The spoof came at the end of the former SNL star's inspiring remarks.

"One more thing — if you would indulge me — since we are in the Superdome, would you mind rising one more time for the national anthem?" she asked the crowd.

She then launched into an overwrought, vocally acrobatic performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" that included lyrics from "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" and both Beyonce’s "Single Ladies" and "Drunk In Love." The rendition appeared to be part-tribute, part-parody of Beyonce's famous Super Bowl halftime show in 2013, which also took place in the Superdome.

Elsewhere in her commencement speech, Rudolph told the students to, "Create your own destiny. Hold onto your old friends. Kiss your mama. Admit what your dreams are. Don't beat yourself up if you don't know what you're gonna do tomorrow, but work hard and don't be lazy. And put away your damn iPhone once in a while."
