McDonald's has shut down its internal employee website following complaints from workers and a recent post saying that they should avoid eating fast food.
A website graphic showing a cheeseburger, fries and drink under the caption "Unhealthy choice" appeared to be the last straw for the
website, according to CNN. Next to it was a picture of a sub, a salad and water under the caption "Healthier choice."

Workers and others scoffed at a McResource budget-planning guide, calling it "out of touch."
"For starters, it didn't account for food and gasoline," CNN reported in July. "The second line on the sample budget leaves room for income from a second job, which many called an admission by the fast food giant that its workers can't live on its wages alone."
McDonald's posted on its website that McResource had been taken down after the content on it received negative press. Lisa McComb, a spokeswoman for McDonald's USA,
told the Huffington Post that employees can still receive help via phone.
"A combination of factors has led us to re-evaluate and we've directed the vendor to take down the website," McDonald's said. "Between links to irrelevant or outdated information, along with outside groups taking elements out of context, this created unwarranted scrutiny and inappropriate commentary. None of this helps our McDonald's team members."
CNBC reported the advice the fast food giant was giving its workers was hypocritical.
"Fast foods are quick, reasonably priced, and readily available alternatives to home cooking," McDonald's wrote on its site this month. "While convenient and economical for a busy lifestyle, fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt and may put people at risk for becoming overweight," reads one post on the site, which includes a picture of a hamburger and fries, two items that the fast-food giant specializes in selling."
Labor groups organized the "Low Pay is Not Okay" campaign in which workers striked and criticized the McResource program in the past.
