Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are likely to reunite for "Ithaca," a film adaptation of William Saroyan's classic 1943 novel "The Human Comedy."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is being produced in part by Hanks — who would also make a small cameo — and Ryan would direct. It would be the fourth movie both Ryan and Hanks worked on together, and would mark Ryan's directorial debut.

The famous romantic comedy couple first starred together in 1990's "Joe Versus the Volcano." The went on mega box-office success with "Sleepless in Seattle" in 1993, and "You've Got Mail" in 1998.
Erik Jendresen, who co-wrote the acclaimed HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers" with Hanks, will adapt the script for the new film.
The film itself tells the story of a 14 year old bike messenger growing up in California's San Joaquin Valley in 1942. The boy, Homer Macauley, is forced to care for his widowed mother, older sister, and 4-year-old brother after his older brother leaves to fight in WWII. Hanks would play the small role of the boy's father.
The New York Daily News reported that the film stars Melanie Griffith, Sam Shepard, and Ryan's 22-year-old son Jack Quaid.
"Ithaca" is set to begin shooting next month in Virginia, and is slated for a 2015 release.
