Meghan McCain is very upset with President Donald Trump, to say the least, responding to reports he was mocking her father in private, on the same day Variety broke the news she joined ABC's "The View" as co-host.

She called Trump’s behavior toward her war-hero U.S. senator dad with malignant brain cancer "abhorrent."

Meghan McCain will be sitting on "The View" as the regular lone conservative voice of the four-woman panel on the long-running daytime talk show, Variety reported Wednesday.

The report that upset the daughter of the senator from Arizona, and the former Republican presidential candidate, said Trump used slumped shoulders and lethargic body language to mock McCain while using thumbs down to mock Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The report posted on Axios.com suggested Trump was venting about the Republicans' failed plans to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

Sen. John McCain, who started receiving treatment for brain cancer last month, cannot lift his arms above his shoulders because of injuries sustained while he was a prisoner during the Vietnam War, USA Today noted.

Meghan McCain responded to the Axios.com report in a Twitter post.

Variety said ABC declined to comment on Meghan McCain joining "The View," and said a source told it the network went after her because it had lacked a strong conservative voice since the departure of Elisabeth Hasselbeck in 2013.

McCain will be joining the cast in early October, sitting in with co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Paula Faris, and Sunny Hostin, Variety reported.

"The View" lost its latest conservative voice when Jedediah Bila announced Sept. 18 that she was leaving. McCain was a contributor to the Fox News show "Outnumbered," which has a similar format to "The View," noted Variety.
