Meghan McCain shared a new photo of her father, Arizona Sen. John McCain, on Sunday as she visited him on the family ranch during his treatment for an aggressive form of brain cancer.

The senator has been absent from Capitol Hill since December to undergo chemotherapy for glioblastoma, one of the most deadly types of brain tumors, after his diagnosis last year.

“No place I would rather be,” Meghan McCain tweeted, along with a photo of herself leaning in close to her father as they sat together outdoors.

In a radio interview last week, Meghan McCain couldn’t say exactly when John McCain would return to the Senate. “I wish I had an exact date, but I just don’t,” she said on KTAR News. “I am very cautiously optimistic about the summer, yes.”

Rumors had circulated earlier in March that John McCain might step down from the Senate, but his wife Cindy McCain said on Twitter that he had no intention of stepping down.

“Contrary to popular belief [John McCain] is doing fine and has no intention of resigning,” she tweeted along with the hashtag “crackpots.”

The rumor was spread by Twitter accounts without any reputable sources, KTAR reported.

Many on Twitter offered prayers and support for John McCain’s recovery.
