Megyn Kelly and Kelly Ripa are set to go head-to-head over the mid-morning TV audience starting in the fall and perhaps steal some thunder from the traditional morning shows on earlier.
Kelly's new NBC show will air at 9 a.m., creating competition for Ripa who hosts her show "Live" on ABC at the same time, noted Variety.
To add to her heft, Ripa will be adding Ryan Seacrest as co-host, after a year-long search.
Typically, it's been the audience between 7 and 9 a.m. that has been the focus of major TV networks, but Kelly, Ripa and Seacrest will put more value on those who will be watching ABC and NBC after shows like "Today," "Good Morning America," and "CBS This Morning."
Kelly and Ripa actually worked together for a short stint on "Live," noted CNN Money.
"Today, the next chapter of the 'Live' story is about to be written," Ripa said on Monday in announcing Seacrest's addition.
"They are a part of the 'Live' family forever," Ripa said of all the co-hosts who filled in during the network's search for someone permanent.
Seacrest will also be an executive producer on "Live," noted the
Hollywood Reporter.
Kelly will be hosting her own show on NBC and also will be leading a Sunday news-magazine starting in June to be overseen by "Dateline" producers David Corvo and Liz Cole, according to Variety.
Kelly is set to make $18 million in her new deal with NBC News.
