Melania Trump will be moving to Washington D.C. next week with 11-year-old son Barron, Politico reported.
Trump, who became the first first lady to delay moving into the White House, decided to stay in New York after the election of husband President Donald Trump so their son could finish out the school year.
The Trumps will arrive next Wednesday, June 14, with Melania Trump's parents, according to Politico. Melania Trump's parents, Victor and Amalija Knavs, are also expected to help care for Barron, but are not planning to relocate to D.C.
Michelle Obama's mother, Marian Robinson, lived in the White House to help care for Malia and Sasha Obama when they lived in the White House, according to Politico. Town & Country magazine reported last month that Barron Trump will attend St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, in the fall.
"Her presence is not going to stop any investigations, but at a time when this particular presidency needs an air of stability, it might lend that," Katherine Jellison, a history professor at Ohio University who specializes in first lady studies, told Politico. "The move helps to give the impression that the president is currently in a stable, solid marriage and that his home life is under control."
Barron Trump finished the school year at the private Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in Manhattan, reported the Business Insider. Melania and Barron Trump continued to live at Trump Tower while President Trump moved into the White House, the New York Post noted.
"Melania is extremely close to Barron, and they have become closer during the campaign," a Trump transition team member told the Post last November after the election. "The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.
"Melania is very supportive of her husband and is fully on board of doing everything that's needed as first lady," another source told the Post.
