Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears, two pop stars known for raunchy on-stage performances as well as their music, are working together on a song for Cyrus' upcoming album, "Bangerz," which is scheduled for an Oct. 8 release.

"It's fun, exciting [music]. We got one with that Britney," songwriter Sean Garrett told VIBE Magazine.

The effort will reportedly be produced by Mike Will Made It, the man who created Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" and Rihanna's "Pour It Up."

"Mike Will, Miley and me just got in the studio and wanted to make it the biggest record possible," Garrett told VIBE. "It's just a pleasure to be working with some icons like that."

VIBE also noted that in June, Spears sent a complimentary tweet to Cyrus on her "We Can't Stop" video, which ended with, "Maybe you can teach me how to twerk sometime LOL ;) xo."

Perhaps now she can.

Spears is also preparing for a Sept. 17 announcement, which could be about the lead single from her eighth studio album.

The 20-year-old Cyrus created a major buzz on Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards when she performed a suggestive and controversial dance performance known as "twerking" wearing a shiny nude-colored outfit.

At the 2000 VMAs, when she was just 18, Spears also shocked audiences with a sparkly nude bra and pants set.
