Milo Yiannopoulos, the “alt-right” icon, has inked a $250,000 book deal for his upcoming "Dangerous" with Threshold Editions, a conservative imprint of Simon & Schuster. It's due out in March.
Threshold has published Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Karl Rove and Donald Trump.
The 33-year-old controversial Breitbart editor and prominent gay conservative has now gone from online pariah to published book author, according to the Los Angeles Times, and the book deal comes just months after he was banned from Twitter after attacking actress Leslie Jones in a series of tweets.
“Dangerous" will be a book on free speech by an outspoken British writer who describes himself as "the most fabulous super villain on the Internet,” said the publisher in a press release.
“They said banning me from Twitter would finish me off. Just as I predicted, the opposite has happened,” Yiannopoulos told The Hollywood Reporter. “Did it hurt Madonna being banned from MTV in the 1990s? Did all that negative press hurt Donald Trump’s chances of winning the election?"
Yiannopoulos told THR he “met with top execs at Simon & Schuster earlier in the year and spent half an hour trying to shock them with lewd jokes and outrageous opinions.”
“I thought they were going to have me escorted from the building,” he said, “but instead they offered me a wheelbarrow full of money.”
Yiannopoulos took flak in the past for authoring headlines on Breitbart such as “Science Proves It: Fat-Shaming Works” and “Birth Control Makes Women Unattractive and Crazy,” noted the Huffington Post.
Naturally, there was plenty of reaction on Twitter to the book deal:
