Mira Sorvino, 50, praised her father Paul Sorvino on Twitter after he stood up for her in a TMZ interview Wednesday regarding Harvey Weinstein allegedly making unwanted advances on his daughter and then blacklisting her from future movie roles.
Paul Sorvino, 78, said in the TMZ interview that Weinstein should hope that he goes to jail, because if Sorvino sees him, he would be “lying on the floor.” He also threatened to kill Weinstein if they meet.
Mira Sorvino took to Twitter to praise her father for the comments, calling him “the most loving father,” and saying that her love for him “has only continued to grow since this moment.”
Weinstein has denied any non-consensual contact with the women who have accused him, and has said he did not attempt to blacklist those who refused his advances, as Mira Sorvino alleges.
Film director Peter Jackson told New Zealand publication Stuff last month that he was told by Miramax not to cast Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd, another Weinstein accuser, in the “Lord of the Rings” movies and now thinks Weinstein was behind the “smear campaign” against the otherwise well-regarded actresses.
The comments on Mira Sorvino’s post were full of praise for Paul Sorvino as an actor and father.
