The body of a missing 22-year-old Louisiana State University student was found on Wednesday, after police located his overturned truck on a state highway.

Chris Broussard had been missing since Tuesday. The following day, his truck was spotted by helicopter on Louisiana 30, south of Baton Rouge near Iberville Parish. Broussard's mother, Lisa, told WBRZ-TV that she last heard from her son around 1 a.m. Tuesday with a text message about him leaving a bar near Louisiana State University.

St. Gabriel Police Chief Kevin Ambeau said Broussard’s family confirmed the body was Broussard's, according to New Orleans' The Advocate.

Broussard was last seen at Bogie’s Bar & Grill early Tuesday morning in Baton Rouge, where he had been hanging out with friends.

“The last thing he did before he left was help a friend to his car,” Lisa Broussard, his mother, told The Advocate.

Family members said Broussard was expected to graduate with a degree in sociology in December.

"He was a wonderful, loving son, and I’m going to miss him very much," Lisa Broussard said. "The last thing he did before he left was help a friend to his car."

Lisa Broussard said that she began worrying about her son when he did not return home the next morning and when he missed work at the Exerfit fitness center in Baton Rouge without notifying anyone he wasn't coming in.

Investigators believe Broussard was traveling south on La. 30 when he lost control of his vehicle and then slammed into a guardrail before his vehicle went airborne and landed in Bayou Manchac.

Baton Rouge police Cpl. L’Jean McKneely told The Advocate Wednesday that investigators did not believe foul play was involved but the cause of the crash is still being investigated.

Family and friends expressed condolences on a "Find Chris Broussard" Facebook page that was created after he was announced missing by his family. The page had surpassed 1,000 members.

"My prayers go to Chris Broussard's family and loved ones. My son Jackson Murray was a LSU senior when he died in a car accident in 2010," wrote Therese Ingelaere Murray posted on the Facebook page Wednesday. "My heart broke when I first saw the post on Facebook! Please let me know if there is anything I can to do to help Chris's family. Love and prayers to all!"

"My deepest condolences go out to the entire Broussard family, including his LSU family," Rhonda Hymel Hunter posted on Wednesday. "Please take comfort in knowing that there are a tremendous amount of people sending prayers and thoughts for Chris."
