The Mississippi gator record has been shattered once again, this time by a group of hunters who landed a 741.5-pound beast on Sunday.
Dalco Turner, of Gluckstadt, Miss., and members of Team Gatorslayer set a new record for heaviest male gator Sunday after catching the monster in the Mississippi River near Port Gibson.
The hunters almost passed on the record-breaking alligator.

"It was around midnight when we initially saw this one,"
Turner told the Clarion-Ledger. "We passed it by the first time. We really didn’t think he was big enough to go after."
But when they saw it again later on, they realized it had potential and the chase was on.
"He broke three lines, and I had the only hook that stayed in him the whole time," Turner said, adding that the gator snapped so hard at one point that he broke some teeth.
After grappling for more than an hour, Turner and the three other members of Team Gatorslayer finally secured their prize.
The previous Mississippi gator record was set at 723.5 pounds last week and then broken just hours later with a 727-pound catch.
Mississippi gators reportedly have nothing on Texas ones, though.
According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, a record 800-pound alligator was caught during a hunt in May. The 14-foot, 3-inch gator was estimated to be between 30 to 50 years old.
