The Indiana State Legislature has voted to forbid the state from providing money to abortion providers, which would defund Planned Parenthood. The State House approved the bill Wednesday, and both sides in the debate expect Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels to sign it,
Politico reports.
Daniels’ recent call for a “truce” on social issues won’t prevent his approval, they say.
“He’s always kept fiscal matters a top priority but proven consistently that he can and will deal with social issues like abortion at the same time,” Mike Fitcher, president of Indiana Right to Life, previously told Politico.
“We expect that this would be a bill he will personally see the value of and would see as a bill that’s good for Indiana,” he added.
