A man who paid $150 for a desk off Craigslist found a bag of money inside it that totaled $98,000 in cash.
Rabbi Noah Muroff bought the desk and, when it wouldn’t fit into his office, he and his wife took it apart,
News 8 in New Haven, Conn., reported. That’s when they found a plastic bag filled with hundred dollar bills hidden behind the drawers.

“Behind the drawers there is this plastic bag, like a shopping [bag],” Muroff told News 8. “In the bag, I could already see through the bag, it looks like a one hundred dollar bill. We open it up and it’s full of cash. And we counted up and there’s $98,000 cash sitting in the bag.”
The couple knew immediately that they couldn’t keep the money, and they called the original owner who had told them she
bought the desk new and put it together, CNN said.
Muroff told CNN that the owner, identified only as Patty, was speechless when he called and she admitted that the money was her inheritance and she had forgotten where she put it.
“I do not think there are too many people in this world that would have done what you did by calling me,” CNN quoted from a thank-you note that Patty wrote the Muroffs.
News 8 said Patty insisted on returning the $150 Muroff paid for the desk and also gave him additional money as a reward for his honesty.
Comments on the article showed how much people appreciate hearing about others who make honest decisions.
“Man it is so great to hear about something like this. There are still honest and caring people in this world. We just need a lot more of them,” wrote one person.
