Mr. T, former star of the 1980s series "The A-Team," will host a new home improvement show on the DIY Network called "I Pity the Tool."
The name of the show comes from the star’s catchphrase "I pity the fool" on "The A-Team."
Interior designer Tiffany Brooks, a former winner of "HGTV Design Star," also will appear on the show, which will feature
Mr. T and his team remodeling outdated spaces for families, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The Michael Group is producing the series.
The show likely will involve plenty of demolition as Mr. T tears out walls as part of the renovations. But the new DIY series will have a caring bent, featuring
homes of military veterans and families facing financial struggles, The Telegraph reported.
“I am tough, but deep inside my toughness, I like to let people know I’m an old-fashioned mama’s boy,” Mr. T said, according to The Telegraph.
The actor, who was born Laurence Tureaud, has a background in construction trades. He learned brick masonry and cabinet making before launching his acting career and helped with rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Katrina.
Mr. T previously hosted a reality show, “I Pity the Fool,” for TV Land in which the actor and his signature mohawk hairstyle traveled to various businesses, such as children’s dance schools and horse farms, to offer advice.
Other celebrities that have starred in shows on the DIY Network include Vanilla Ice, William Shatner, Rev Run, and Daryl Hall.
