The Nap Nanny infant recliner is being blamed for a sixth child's death after an 8-month-old reportedly suffocated while in the device,
despite it having been recalled last June.
The infant from Hopatcong, New Jersey, died while being trapped between the Nap Nanny and her crib bumper and was found hanging over the side of the recliner,
New York's WPIX News reported.
Between 2009 and June 2013, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recorded at least 92 incident reports involving the Nap Nanny and Nap Nanny Chill products,
The International Business Times reported.
"Our Safe to Sleep experts urge all parents and caregivers who own a Nap Nanny or Nap Nanny Chill recliner to stop using it immediately," Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) posted on its website. "We do not want any other family to suffer the loss of their child or experience serious injury to their child."

Voluntary recalls of the hazardous baby sleeping aid was initiated by the CPSC and the Nap Nanny maker, Baby Matters LLC, of Berwyn, Pa., as early as July 2010, however despite the removal from shelves the product unfortunately remains in use.
The Nap Nanny recalls was reportedly initiated when a 4-month-old girl died while in the device, which the parents were apparently using as a makeshift crib. At the time of the initial 2010 recall, which was voluntary, the CPSC and the firm have "received 22 reports of infants, primarily younger than 5-months-old, hanging or falling out over the side of the Nap Nanny despite most of the infants being placed in the harness,"
a CPSC press release stated.
In addition to the hanging harness risk, babies have also reportedly suffocated while lying in the device.
"This is a product that should be out of homes and we urge all parents to stop using the product," CPSC spokesman Scott Wolfson told
the Daily Mail, adding that prior to the recall some 165,000 units of the Nap Nanny had been sold.
While retailers are no longer selling the device, Wolfson added that second hand market sales remain risk.
"Don’t sell it at a garage sale. Don’t take it back to a local thrift store. Don’t put it on eBay or Craigslist. Just throw it away," Wolfson concluded.
