National Grouch Day allowed grouches from all over the world, no matter their age, race or creed, to come together Tuesday to celebrate, or not celebrate, their lives as miserable, complaining, ill-tempered curmudgeons.
National Grouch Day is observed every Oct. 15, according to Sesame Street Magazine.

The most famous of all grouches announced National Grouch Day on his Twitter feed earlier today.
Oscar pre-empted the day on Monday by publishing his Grouch Anthem in which he sings, "don't let the sunshine spoil your rain, just stand up and complain."
Muppet Wiki describes a grouch as someone whose "mission in life is to be as miserable and grouchy as possible, and pass that feeling on to everyone else."
"Only then will a Grouch feel in touch with his or her world and be happy," Muppet Wiki continues. "Yet, even though a Grouch may show happiness at anyone's misfortune (including his or her own), a Grouch would never admit to being happy. Such is the stability of a Grouch's life: so balanced, and yet so unbalanced."
Unlike Oscar, few people identify themselves as a grouches.
"If you have a temperament that is less agreeable than those around you, you may be labeled a grouch just because you’re experiencing life differently,"
therapist Julie de Azevedo Hanks tells Fox News.
Hanks, who wrote the book "The Burnout Cure: An Emotional Survival Guide for Overwhelmed Women," claims that some pessimistic older adults can sometimes be more motivated to improve their lives than their cheery counterparts.
"While they may be a drag to be around, they may actually be trying to improve themselves," Hanks told Fox News.
To avoid being put in the same category as Oscar,
Health.com compiled a seven-part to do list that includes lightening up, remaining active, having upbeat friends, and performing a dance or song from time to time.
