Neil deGrasse Tyson has thrown cold water on much of the science in mega-blockbuster "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens,"
In a series of tweets on Monday, astrophysicist Tyson took on the science of the record-breaking box office movie, like he has done a number of other science fictions movies.
"Neil deGrasse Tyson is a science-fiction fan, but first and foremost, he is a scientist," said Hoai-Tran Bu of
USA Today. "Which means he is contractually obligated to pick apart every new sci-fi movie. And to live tweet every inaccuracy in the name of #SCIENCE."
Tyson promised not to give away any spoilers but he was blunt about the science of the new movie.
While Tyson's following two tweets don't give away a spoiler, it scoots close to the edge.
The astrophysicist may have started a battle with BB-8 and R2D2 fans with these two tweets.
He also pointed out the Millennium Falcon's Kessel Run discrepancy.
Tyson has shared his opinions on what moviemakers got right and wrong, science-wise, in such hit movies as "Gravity" in 2013, "Interstellar" in 2014 and "The Martian" this past October, according to
Entertainment Weekly.
