Afraid you forgot to lock the front door? Not sure who’s ringing your doorbell? A slew of new smart home technologies will keep you safe and give you piece of mind. Here are a few of the most innovative:

1. Withings Home: Equipped with a 6-megapixel sensor, this HD camera can live-stream video footage to your smart device or PC. It has a 135-degree wide angle rather than a distorting fisheye lens as other cameras have and also has a night vision feature. While watching footage, you can zoom in, pan, or tilt your view to see small details. Each time it detects an event, the camera snaps a photo or records a short clip that you can go back to later. Lastly, the device has air quality sensors to inform you of potentially harmful contaminants.

2. SmartSense Moisture Sensor: Prevent small leaks from becoming serious water damage that costs thousands to repair with this device. Place it in areas of the house that are prone to leaking, such as the basement, under a water heater, under a pipe, or in the bathroom. The sensor sends an immediate alert to your smart phone when it detects excess moisture.

3. Chui Smart Doorbell: Interact with anyone at your door through Chui’s two-way camera or pre-record a message for visitors. The camera uses facial recognition technology, so if there’s an unwanted visitor who comes by, you can flag the person with a “do not disturb” alert to avoid getting notified when they show up unannounced. Chui can automatically unlock the door for designated family and friends, or you can manually unlock the door through the app. Chui also integrates with smart lights such as Hue, so when you arrive home, Hue will turn your hallway lights on as you’re unlocking the door with Chui. It records daily activity, and you can go back and review who was around your home at any time. It works at nighttime too and is weather resistant.

4. Danalock Bluetooth Z-Wave Smart Lock: Think you forgot to lock the door after you’ve left the house? Lock or unlock the door from anywhere with this device through its mobile app. It installs easily in deadbolt holes and keeps a daily log of who comes in and out of the house. You can give access to designated friends and family members. The Chamberlain MyQ Garage Door Controller works the same way, but it’s for your garage door.

5. Samsung Digital Door Lock SHS-P718 Fingerprint Push-Pull Two Way Latch Mortise: Lock and unlock your door with a scan of your fingerprint or by entering a four- to 12-digit entry combination. You can save up to 100 fingerprints. Opening the door requires both the password and the fingerprint to reduce worry over key loss or password hacking.
