Nik Wallenda completed yet another daredevil stunt this week when he walked on top of the Orlando Eye, the tallest observation Ferris wheel on the East Coast, live on NBC's "Today" show Wednesday morning.
While walking onto a 6-inch-wide steel beam, 36-year-old Wallenda said he was concerned about the wind and about how wet the 400-foot-tall
Ferris wheel was from a previous rainfall, according to USA Today.
Wallenda said that he estimated the wind to be about 20 miles per hour as he climbed from one of the Eye's pods down a ladder to the steel rim — all while the Ferris wheel slowly turned. At one point, he stopped to take a selfie.
The Orlando Eye, which is scheduled to open May 4, is part of a new $200 million entertainment complex in Orlando, according to USA Today. It stands taller than the Statue of Liberty.
"This is a very unique walk for me because I've never walked on any observation wheel, let alone one that's moving that I have to keep up with," Wallenda told the "Today" show. "I've never walked without a balancing pole in public and I've also never had to duck under obstacles as I was walking, so this will be extremely challenging."
Wallenda's stunt kept several people on social media on the edge of their seats.
