The NRA is facing heat after board member Ted Nugent's social media outburst about Jews and gun control, and according to the
Huffington Post it's coming from gun owners who want the organization to distance itself from the controversial rocker.
On Monday, Nugent posted a message on Facebook with photos of 12 well-known Jewish Americans, with the Israeli flag overlaid on each picture, charging "they would deny us the basic human right to self- defense," said the Post.
The photo included Sen. Barbara Boxer, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, current Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and Sen. Chuck Schumer.
Know these punks. They hate freedom, they hate good over evil, they would deny us the basic human right to self defense ...

The Anti-Defamation League quickly condemned the social media post on Monday in a
statement from chief executive officer Jonathan Greenblatt.
"Ted Nugent has a long history of being an equal opportunity offender. But his latest share on Facebook, making the outrageous suggestion that Jews are behind gun control, is nothing short of conspiratorial anti-Semitism," wrote Greenblatt.
"Regardless of one's views on gun control, this kind of scapegoating of an entire religious group is completely unacceptable and completely divorced from reality."
Bob Owens, editor of the guns rights website
Bearing Arms, said some gun-owners have tired of Nugent.
"Quite a few people of the pro-gun people that I've spoken with today are simply done with Nugent," Owens said on the website Tuesday. "… Many people are calling for him to resign from the NRA board and for him to have his membership stripped from him. While I think forcing him out of the NRA entirely is a bit much, I do think he owes the world a sincere apology."
Even some of his fans, like Joseph Marmor, spoke out, according to the Huffington Post. Writing on Facebook he said: "Ted I loved your music and I loved your politics but blaming Jews for gun control is just plain stupid and ignorant. Liberals, Democrats are to blame and as a proud gun-carrying Jew your stupid comment has lost me as a fan."
The Huffington Post said Nugent has been a member of the NRA board since 1995.
