Barack Obama made Melania Trump smile, and Twitter has erupted into a frenzy.
Melania Trump was attending the funeral of former first lady Barbara Bush on Saturday without her husband and was seated next to Barack Obama during the service when the warm exchange occurred, The Huffington Post noted.
It is unclear what the two were discussing but they both briefly smiled and now the moment has gone viral on social media.
"Do NOT tweet this photo to @realDonaldTrump. He'll hate knowing that the first time Melania cracked a smile in years was during a quiet chat with Obama," actor, producer and political commentator Bob Cesca, tweeted.
"Melania is actually happier with Barack Obama at a funeral than she is with Trump at his inauguration dinner," another Twitter user posted.
It was not long before the memes flooded social media.
Melania Trump and Barack Obama were joined by several generations of presidents, and their wives, to pay tribute to the late Barbara Bush, who died last week at 92.
Among those in attendance were former presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush along with former first ladies Michelle Obama, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton, CNN noted.
Donald Trump was absent as he hoped "to avoid disruptions due to added security, and out of respect for the Bush family and friends attending the service," the White House said per CNN.
Shortly after the funeral, Melania Trump released a statement in which she offered condolences to the Bush family.
"Today the world paid tribute to a woman of indisputable character and grace," she said, according to People magazine.
"It was my honor to travel to Houston to give my respects to Barbara Bush and the remarkable life she led as a mother, wife, and fearless First Lady. My sincerest thoughts and prayers continue to be with George H.W., and the entire Bush family."
