A California teacher has been arrested in connection with last week's daring Orange County jail escape by three inmates who are still on the run.
Nooshafarin Ravaghi, 44, had been teaching English as a Second Language at the jail for about six months, the Los Angeles Times reported, and she was arrested on Thursday on suspicion she helped the three men break out of jail,
Still on the run are Hossein Nayeri, Jonathan Tieu and Bac Duong. They broke out of the Santa Ana's Men's Central Jail on Jan. 22.
"They ascended to the roof, one floor above the dormitory area where they had been housed, and used a makeshift rope of knotted bedsheets and cloth to rappel down the side of the building," said the Times.
Ravaghi, of Lake Forest, California, told police she allowed Nayeri to access maps of the area through Google, said Lt. Jeffrey Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
He said police believe she "directly contributed to the escape and provided credible planning tools," the Times said.
"We continue to get information from her," said Hallock. "We have a certain amount of information she has provided thus far. But again she has denied bringing in any tools to this point. She did provide some tools for planning such as maps."
CNN reported that authorities believe the three convicts are traveling together in a van.
Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens told CNN the day before Ravaghi's arrest that she was confident the men had outside help in their escape. She also said the sheriff's office was embarrassed by the escape.
"There's not a member of the sheriff's department ... that does not feel that we let the public down," she told CNN.
