No stranger to controversy, former President Ronald Reagan's daughter Patti Davis has penned a new novel based on a lesbian love story. Davis, 60, once caused a stir when she posed nude for Playboy and More magazine after battling drug addiction for many years during her youth.
The book, "
Till Human Voices Wake Us," chronicles the story of a bereaved mother who falls in love with her sister-in-law, but Davis maintains it is purely fiction.
"This is not me," Davis told the
New York Post. "None of it is autobiographical."

Though the book deals with adult themes, there are no graphic sex scenes.
"I didn't want to write 'Fifty Shades' of whatever," Davis told the Post. "It's a love story."
"Till Human Voices Wake Us" was self-published as an e-book on Amazon after many publisher rejections.
"Maybe this non-autobiographical novel was too much of a departure for publishers to wrap their heads around," Davis wrote on her Amazon sellers page. "Most writers have books they have labored over for years and long to put out into the world. 'Till Human Voices Wake Us' is one of those books."
Davis has long been known for her rebellious, liberal streak despite her father's conservative stance. She publicly fell out with her parents and did not speak to them for a number of years.
In 1994, she posed for the cover of Playboy and starred in the porn film "Playboy Celebrity Centerfold."
She bared all again in 2011 at age 58 for More magazine to celebrate her body's triumph over drug addiction.

"The body I had once disrespected, that I had ruined with drugs, was now my therapist," Davis told More at the time.
Davis has penned many autobiographical books about growing up as a member of the well-known Reagan family.
