Since his tragic death over the weekend, Paul Walker's co-stars and friends have spoken out about his kindness and generosity, and now a California jewelry store clerk is opening up about the time the actor secretly bought a pricy engagement ring for a soldier and his fiancee.

It happened several years ago at a jewelry shop in Santa Barbara when the "Fast & Furious" actor was shopping at the same time as a soldier who had just gotten home from his first tour in Iraq.

"[The soldier's fiancee] saw something that she really, really liked, but he said, 'Honey, I can’t afford that,'" the clerk, Irene King, told CBS Los Angeles.

Walker apparently overheard the couple talking about the $10,000 engagement ring set and he quietly called the manager of the store over.

"He called the manager and he said, 'Umm, the ring that those people are looking at — put it on my tab,'" King said. "Soon after that, he just left. … To do something like that to a perfect stranger is just unbelievable."

Walker, 40, and his friend and driver Roger Rodas, 38, were both killed Saturday when the Porsche Carrera GT they were riding in crashed into a pole and burst into flames in Valencia, Calif.

The pair had reportedly spent the day at a Philippines typhoon fundraising event hosted by their charity, Reach Out Worldwide. Afterwards, according to E! Online, Rodas suggested they take his 2005 Porsche for a quick drive to see if they could figure out why it had been stalling earlier.

Walker's autopsy results were revealed Wednesday and showed that he died from a combination of "traumatic and thermal" injuries

Universal Pictures, the studio behind the "Fast & Furious" franchise, released a tribute video Wednesday dedicated to Walker. The clip has already drawn nearly 2.5 million views on YouTube.
