Actress Pauley Perrette, known for her role as Abby in the CBS series "NCIS," has co-authored a cookbook featuring some of her late mother’s recipes.

After Perrette's mother died of cancer in 2002, the actress partnered with friends Darren Greenblatt and chef Matthew Sandusky to open Donna Bell's Bake Shop in her honor three years ago, Entertainment Tonight reported.

The cookbook, which was released by Simon & Schuster on Tuesday, is titled “Donna Bell’s Bake Shop: Recipes and Stories of Family, Friends and Food.”

Perrette, who spent hours as a child in the kitchen with her mother, describes the recipes to ET as “very southern.”

In an interview on "CBS This Morning," Perrette talked about her mother and the book, which she describes as “part biography and part cookbook.”

“She was a wonderful lady. I lost her way too early,” Perrette said of her mother, who was from Alabama. “No matter how old you are, when you lose your mom you feel like an orphan.”

Perrette’s longtime friend Greenblatt often visited her and her mother, who would make southern treats for them, according to the description of the book on Amazon.com.

The bake shop’s Twitter account included updates about the cookbook.
