"Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson thinks the best way to deal with ISIS militants is to "either convert them or kill them."

Robertson, 68, made references to several parts of the Bible during his appearance on Tuesday night's episode of "Hannity" on Fox News. ISIS, he said, needs to be dealt with more harshly than nations with conventional armies because they're "street gangs, street thugs on steroids."

"In this case, you either have to convert them, which I think would be next to impossible," he said. "I'm not giving up on them, but I'm just saying either convert them or kill them. One or the other. The time may have come and gone for that."

Robertson specified that his first choice would be to introduce ISIS to Christianity.

"I'd much rather have a Bible study with all of them and show them the error of their ways and point them to Jesus Christ," he said. "However, if it's a gunfight and a gunfight alone, if that's what they're looking for, me personally, I am prepared for either one."

Robertson is hardly a stranger to controversy or controversial statements. His views on homosexuals and race in GQ magazine last year led to brief, yet contentious, suspension from his family's A&E show, "Duck Dynasty."

Robertson's fans led a boisterous backlash against the suspension and the network eventually backed down.

Robertson appeared on "Hannity" to promote his new book, "unPHILtered: The Way I See It."

"So people can read it and decide for themselves, but people need to get it in their head, dude, I don't hate anybody," Robertson told ABC News in a recent interview.
