Pierce Brosnan, the Irish actor best known for playing James Bond, was stopped by U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on Sunday after they found a large knife in his carry-on bag.

The BBC reported that the 10-inch knife got Brosnan pulled over into a private screening, where agents questioned him about what was going on.

An eyewitness told the Daily Mail that Brosnan became "furious" during the interrogation and another said they overheard him saying to his teenage son, Paris, "I can't believe they're doing this."

The Daily Mail reported further that Brosnan "was seen whispering something to the TSA officer who confiscated his knife but if he had hoped his celebrity status might hold sway he was sorely disappointed."

At one point in the interrogation, Brosnan was taken to a secondary, more private screening room. He later emerged looking "put-out."

TSA rules, which were clearly applicable at the Burlington International Airport in Vermont, state unequivocally that boxcutters, scissors, and other sharp implements must be stored in checked baggage. The 10-inch knife clearly didn't make the cut, but Brosnan and his son were allowed to continue on to catch their flight.

"So, sure Brosnan is retired from MI6, but wouldn't he still have certain superspy privileges — like access to Q's laboratory?" asked a writer at the El Paso Times. "Couldn't Q have rigged up some clever gadget to disguise the knife in, say, an iPhone charger?"
