"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" has started shooting in Australia, with producer Jerry Bruckheimer tweeting the first photo from the movie set and Disney releasing a synopsis of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales."
A Disney press release gives the gist of the movie: "A down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea ... including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.”
However, other than those tidbits, there’s not much being released from the Gold Coast during filming,
according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
“It's called 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' but in the case of 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5,' no live ones do either,” the newspaper wrote.
The extras and crew on the set aren’t saying anything about the movie and they have strict nondisclosure agreements, the Herald said. Phones are banned on the set, too.
Australia’s
Courier Mail reported Johnny Depp and his new wife, Amber Heard, will be honeymooning during the movie’s filming, possibly at the same mansion where Angelina Jolie stayed while filming “Unbroken.”
"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" is due out in July 2017.
