A Planet Fitness gym was evacuated over a joke Wi-Fi name that triggered a bomb scare in Saginaw Township, Michigan, according to Gizmodo.

The incident took place late on Sunday afternoon when a gym patron looking through available Wi-Fi connections noticed one network named "remote detonator" and immediately notified the manager, who evacuated the gym and contacted the police.

As a result, the gym was shuttered for three hours while the Michigan State Police bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in to conduct a precautionary sweep of the area, which produced nothing, MLive noted.

McCall Gosselin, a Planet Fitness spokesperson, said the mass evacuation and shut down was standard procedure.

"If there's any suspicion of any device or anything in the club that would require police attention, the protocol is they close the facility and contact police," Gosselin explained, according to MLive.

The person behind the Wi-Fi name will not face any legal repercussions despite the mayhem because of protected speech, Saginaw Township Police Chief Donald Pussehl explained, per MLive.

"Everything is perfectly legal from a police standpoint. There was no crime or threat. No call saying there was a bomb," he said.

The topic of Wi-Fi name choices is one that is becoming increasingly debated.

And while some have been opting for offensive and intimidating names, there has also been a rise in the number of wireless internet users setting their network names to deliver passive aggressive messages to others.

Reddit users recently gathered together examples of network names, BBC News reported.

"Stop Stealing My Paper!" prompted the reply of "FYI, I Don't Read It I Just Throw It Away!," among neighbors naming their networks.

Another exchange, "You're music is annoying!" was followed by "Your grammar is more annoying!"

Other examples provided by OpenSignalMaps, a company maintaining a wide database of wi-fi network names, included "Stop slamming the door!!!," "Stop wearing heels!," "Shut up," "Stop running," and "Stop shouting!"
