Pregnant ESPN host Sam Ponder slammed trolls on Tuesday for sexist remarks that were made about her.
Ponder, who is seven months pregnant, fired back on Twitter after receiving “sexist/vulgar” tweets about her appearance on ESPN, according to Larry Brown Sports.
This tweet comes days after she took to Twitter, making a reference to her pregnancy.
Ponder is the favorite to replace Chris Berman as the new host for “Sunday NFL Countdown,” according to Sports Illustrated.
Ponder is believed to have great potential as a studio host, and there’s no question that adding her to the NFL morning show would bring some much needed diversity to ESPN’s big screen.
Although nothing is yet set in stone, Ponder – who has been a reporter on ESPN for college football – has apparently “emerged as a strong candidate” for the position.
However, if a deal is indeed made for Ponder to join the show, then the network will likely have to take into consideration maternity leave at some point.
Ponder is now pregnant with her second child, according to Breitbart News.
Ponder is married to free agent NFL quarterback Christian Ponder. The two have a daughter together.
Despite the criticisms Ponder received on Tuesday, there were many Twitter users who came to her defense.
