A Princess Diana exposé to be published by a royal insider has Buckingham Palace on edge and
Prince Charles "furious," according to the Daily Mirror.
Though the contents of the book are not officially known, author Dickie Arbiter is billing it as a "behind-the-scenes" look at "the most turbulent [period] in the history of the modern British monarchy," according to the Mirror. The 73-year-old served as the queen's press secretary and claims to have been privy to intimate details about Prince Charles and Princess Diana's marriage.
"Nicknamed Sticky Arbiter, he will claim in his book that he was so close to the Queen they once did the washing up together," the Mirror reported. "But the 73-year-old is set to hang out the Royal Family's dirty laundry — and be the first Buckingham Palace press officer ever to spill the beans on what he witnessed behind closed doors."

The Daily Mirror said Arbiter remained close to Prince Charles throughout the disintegration of his marriage to Princess Diana amid his affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles.
"Charles is furious," a palace source told the newspaper, noting that the future king felt Arbiter was "every inch the tight-lipped loyal aide." "This man was a trusted friend."
The book, titled "On Duty with the Queen," provides "a candid look behind the scenes of the most sensational and
salacious royal stories," according to Woman's Day.
The magazine said the book is expected to describe how Prince Charles' affair left Princess Diana "shattered" and "humiliated." Arbiter is also expected to publish previously undisclosed details around the failed marriages of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and Prince Anne and Mark Philips.
Though Buckingham Palace is reportedly contemplating legal action to prevent the book from coming out, Arbiter believes it is his life story and does not violate any previous confidentiality agreements.
"This is not just a memoir of an intense dozen years but is a story of a life, my life, and it's been quite an extraordinary one," Arbiter said, according to Woman's Day.
Arbiter worked for the royals from 1988 to 2000 as the family's official press secretary.
