E! News correspondent Giuliana Rancic and her husband announced that the surrogate who carried the couple's son a year ago recently suffered a miscarriage while carrying another baby for them.
"Unfortunately our surrogate Delphine who we love very much had a miscarriage," said Rancic,
according to People magazine. "It's something that we didn't see coming. We were devastated. She was about nine weeks pregnant. We were pretty close to getting into the safe zone."
Giuliana Rancic hinted last year that she and her husband Bill had hoped to use a surrogate for a second child, making it part of their reality show "Giuliana and Bill."

"I can confirm that we definitely asked her and that we love our surrogate and that she is seriously considering it, but the truth is nothing's really happening right now, to be quite honest," Rancic told E! News then.
"Giuliana and Bill," is a reality show, which appears on the Style network, featuring the E! News host and her husband, the first winner on Donald Trump's "The Apprentice." Bill Rancic told People that the couple will likely try again for another child.
"Delphine is amazing," Bill Rancic told People. "We hit the surrogate lottery when we met her. Obviously this was no fault of hers … It's a double sadness because we didn't want her to feel bad. And Giuliana was rather distraught at first, but she's tough. In times like this we rely on our faith. Once the tears went away we started to look towards the future."
Giuliana Rancic told People in 2011 that she discovered she had breast cancer during a mammogram while undergoing a round of in-vitro fertilization in an effort to get pregnant herself. She underwent surgery and radiation therapy.
