A Connecticut woman took a bite of her Dunkin' Donuts croissant last week but got a mouth full of razor blade shards instead.
Priscilla Salas, who had ordered the pastry from a Dunkin' Donuts store in Windham, was shocked to discover the shards of metal inside the breading of the croissant.
"Oh my God, is it what I think it is? I was in shock. It could be a little kid eating it, not knowing what it is and then their
mouths [start] bleeding or something so it is concerning," Salas told NBC Connecticut.
Luckily, Salas wasn’t injured, even though some of the razor blade bits were up to a quarter of an inch long. She photographed the metal pieces and called the police and the franchise's corporate office.

Dunkin' Donuts reportedly apologized to Salas, explained that it was an isolated incident, and offered her a gift card. Salas said she was told the razor blade bits probably broke off of a box cutter that had been used to open packaging.
"They felt it was probably a frozen croissant from distribution center and they were going to find the exact location of it," she said.
Though the situation could have resulted in a lawsuit, Salas said she just wants to raise awareness.
"I just think that it’s a public hazard," she said. "I just want the public to know and to be aware what they buy and look over everything they eat."
