Sandler is no stranger to the Razzie awards. In 2011, he more than doubled Eddie Murphy's old record for the most nominations accrued by an individual in a single year. In total, the star has amassed an amazing 12 Razzie nominations over his acting career.
In December,
Sandler topped Forbes' most overpaid actors list for 2013. One of the issues
Forbes pointed out with Sandler was his demand to be paid upfront for his work. No matter how the film does in the box office, the studio is forced to pay what was agreed on in the contract.
"Grown Ups 2" was joined on the Razzie's 2013 worst films list with "The Lone Ranger," starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, Tyler Perry’s holiday comedy "A Madea Christmas," and "After Earth," the sci-fi coming of age movie starring Will Smith and his son Jaden.
Founded by copywriter and publicist John J. B. Wilson, the Golden Raspberry Awards are determined by anyone who chooses to pay $40 to become a member,
according to its website.
Though most winners choose not to attend the ceremony to collect their spray-painted Golden Raspberry Award, which is intentionally tacky, some famous actors have in the past, including Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock.
The 34th annual Golden Raspberry Award ceremony will be held March 1, one day before the Academy Awards.
