Actor Richard Gere has quietly begun dating “Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi,
according to the New York Post’s Page Six.
In September, several media outlets reported that Gere, 64, was splitting from his wife, Carey Lowell, after 11 years of marriage. He previously was married to Cindy Crawford.

According to Page Six, a source described the relationship with Lakshmi: “It is all very new and recent, and happened while he has been filming in New York.” Gere is filming “Time Out of Mind,” playing a homeless man trying to reconnect with his daughter.
Gere and Lowell have a 14-year-old son, Homer. Lakshmi, 43, has a 3-year-old daughter, Krishna. She was married to writer Salman Rushdie for three years and later dated billionaire Teddy Forstmann until his death from brain cancer in 2011.
According to People magazine, Gere, a Buddhist, and Lowell had been living separate lives before their split was reported. Gere enjoys solitude and was living in Bedford, N.Y., while Lowell preferred being more social and was living in North Haven, N.Y.
Gere is known for his roles in films including "An Officer and A Gentleman," "Pretty Woman" and "Chicago," and was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 1999.
