Two Michigan men fuming after a reported road rage incident died Wednesday when they got into a shootout in a car wash parking lot.

James Pullum, 43, and Robert Taylor, 56, both died Wednesday after shooting each other in the parking lot of Wonder Wand Car Wash in Ionia, Mich., the Ionia Department of Public Safety told MLive.com.

The men, who both held permits to carry concealed weapons, reportedly got into some sort of road rage incident around 7 p.m. Police said they both then pulled over into the lot, exited their cars, and started shooting.

It's not clear what triggered the initial dispute.

Tony Holtrust, an employee at the car wash, said he heard the shots and rushed outside. He saw both Pullum and Taylor lying on the ground, gasping for air, and tried to administer CPR

"I didn’t know if I was doing good or not," he told MLive.com. "I was yelling for the cops… I support the Second Amendment 100 percent. The Second Amendment is your right, but it’s also a responsibility."

Both men were taken to Sparrow Ionia Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Pullum, who owned Pullum's Auto Service, was "a great person, a great family man, and a great businessman," family members told MLive.com.

Neighbors said Taylor was always friendly and amicable, often offering to take care of pets or help with car troubles.

"He was just a good guy," Bill King, Taylor's next-door neighbor of several years, told MLive.com.
