Former New York Yankee Robinson Cano returned to the Big Apple on Monday, surprising fans on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon.

During a segment where Yankees fans booed a cardboard photo of the second baseman, Cano then stepped out from behind the picture, surprising them. Most of the fans then changed their tune, welcoming the second baseman back to New York.

Cano left the Yankees this year for the Seattle Mariners, where he signed a 10-year, $240 million contract.

Cano, 31, told The Seattle Times on Monday it will “be weird” to return to Yankee Stadium when Seattle begins a three-game series with New York on Tuesday. However, he said he feels optimistic when he was asked about how he thinks he’ll be treated by the Yankee fans.

“Hopefully good,” he said. “The way that I left New York, it wasn’t a good way. You just go there to play the game and beat them.”

A video of Cano's surprised fans on "The Tonight Show" had nearly a million views Tuesday afternoon.
