Roger Moore, the former James Bond actor, died Tuesday after battling cancer. He was 89.
Moore, who played the iconic Bond in seven films, was pronounced dead in Switzerland on Tuesday after a short battle with cancer, according to the New York Daily News.
The actor's family took to Moore's Twitter page to offer a public statement about his passing.
"It is with a heavy heart that we must announce our loving father, Sir Roger Moore, has passed away today in Switzerland after a short but brave battle with cancer," Moore's children Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian wrote in the statement. "The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone."
Moore stamped his acting legacy during his stint starring in the "007" movies between 1973 and 1985, CNN noted.
Moore's funeral will be held privately in Monaco, which is what he had wished for prior to his death.
Many on Twitter were heartbroken after learning the news of Moore's death.
