The “Roseanne” reboot has already been renewed for a second season after a stronger-than-expected debut that beat all ratings expectations on Tuesday and in replays and streaming after the live premiere.
Tuesday’s premiere episode on ABC was viewed by 18.2 million people, and replay ratings have also been strong, Deadline reported.
Roseanne Barr announced the renewal on Twitter, thanking the fans and everyone involved with the show.
Barr stars in the reboot as the matriarch of the Conner family and plays a blue collar Trump supporter with some conservative values. President Donald Trump called Barr to congratulate her on the show’s success and Barr tweeted that the final ratings of the show “beat Stormi [sic] Daniels,” who had done an interview days earlier with “60 Minutes” about her alleged affair with the president 11 years ago.
The show brought back most of the entire original cast, including both of the actors who played Becky Connor and Jon Goodman, who died in the original series.
Barr also tweeted asking viewers for suggestions on topics for the next season and joyfully realizing that they may get to do a Halloween show for season 2, which is slated to have 13 episodes rather than nine like the first season, ABC News reported.
