Incurable pranker Sacha Baron Cohen pretended to kill an old woman during his acceptance of the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy during the 22nd annual BAFTA-LA Britannia Awards Saturday night.

The gag began with a wheelchair-bound elderly woman who was introduced as the "oldest surviving actor to have worked with Chaplin in a silent movie" and handed the British comedian a cane that supposedly belonged to Chaplin.

After performing a Chaplin walk around the stage, Cohen tripped behind the octogenarian – who in reality is a much younger stunt woman, shoving her chair off the stage and causing the woman to fall flat on her face and apparently die.

Cohen then jumps from the stage and pretends to give the woman mouth to mouth before returning to the podium to continue his prank during his acceptance speech.

"Grace Cullington is the oldest, no, sorry was the oldest-surviving (Chaplin co-star)," Cohen said following the fall. "I dedicate my award to her. This is obviously a tragedy. She has upstaged me. But on the bright side, what a great way to go, giving an award to me."

"I'd like to say a few words her family," Cohen continued. "Do not try to sue me. If you decide to get the lawyers involved, I will take you down just like I did your granny. The cane that woman forced on me was clearly defective and I've got lots of witnesses."

Cohen, who is known for his outlandish routines that often push the limits, has starred in such comedies as "Borat" "Bruno," and "The Dictator."

During the 2012 Academy Awards, Cohen dressed as an Arab dictator to promote "The Dictator." He spilled an urn full of ashes onto Ryan Seacrest during a red carpet interview. The comedian had claimed the ashes belonged to deceased Korean dictator Kim Jong Il.
