Samuel L. Jackson said that Mace Windu, his character in "Star Wars: Episode III—Revenge of the Sith," is still alive.
Responding to a question during a social media Q&A, Jackson said it was George Lucas's idea to kill off Mace Windu.
"I was trying to figure out: 'Really? Can't you just like injure me, whatever?'" Jackson said. "In my mind, I'm not dead. Jedis can fall incredibly high distances and not die."
Jackson soon repeated his theory about the character, who fell from Emperor Palpatine’s tower after Anakin Skywalker chopped off his arm,
in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"Of course he is! Jedi can fall from amazing distances. And there’s a long history of one-handed Jedi. So why not?" Jackson said.
He said he shared his theory with Lucas.
"George is like, ‘I’m okay with that. You can be alive,'" he explained.
Lucas is no longer involved with the franchise after Walt Disney Company took over in 2012,
Time noted, so the theory remains just that.
But the idea sparked wide reaction on Twitter.
