Sarah Palin said this week that she accepts former MSNBC host Martin Bashir's apology for saying someone should urinate and defecate in her mouth.
"My role is to accept his apology and be humble enough to accept it and move on," the former Alaskan governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee said Thursday on "Fox and Friends." "But I just hope that unprovoked attacks like that don’t result in people being hesitant to jump in the arena anyway. To get out and there and serve the public or start a business. Or commit themselves to changing within their family, their community, their world; doing whatever they can despite the fact that in this world, you are going to be hurt. And attacks will come your way. I just hope that an attack like that doesn't make people hesitate."

Bashir made the vile comments in November during a discussion about Palin's previous comparison of the national debt and slavery. He suggested someone deliver to Palin the same punishment reserved for slaves.
"I made some comments which were deeply offensive and directed at Gov. Sarah Palin," Bashir said in an on-air apology Nov. 18. "I wanted to take this opportunity to say sorry to Mrs. Palin and to also offer an unreserved apology to her friends and family, her supporters, our viewers and anyone who may have heard what I said. My words were wholly unacceptable."
After mounting backlash, Bashir turned in his resignation from the network Wednesday.
"Upon further reflection, and after meeting with the president of MSNBC, I have tendered my resignation,"
the host's resignation email, posted on Mediaite, read in part. "It is my sincere hope that all of my colleagues at this special network will be allowed to focus on the issues that matter without the distraction of myself or my ill-judged comments."
