Comedian Sarah Silverman memorialized her mother's recent passing in a thoughtful Twitter post on Monday.
"Wednesday morning my Mom died," Silverman, 44,
wrote of her mother, Beth Ann O'Hara.
"She was a know-it-all in overalls & two different colored socks. And defiantly, no bra. The woman who, when I was little, gave me detailed directions to a restaurant ladies room then secretly watched as I found my way to it on my own. The woman who went back to college at 42, and skinny dipped in ponds, and told me never to protect myself from a broken heart because it was so very worth the pain to get to experience love."
On Friday,
New Hampshire Public Radio reported O'Hara's passing at age 73.
"O’Hara founded the New Thalian Players, with whom she produced and directed 50 plays over 25 years," the station wrote. "She was known simply as 'mom' to countless aspiring Granite State actors."
O'Hara had four daughters, and they presented her with a lifetime achievement award during the 2003 New Hampshire Theater Awards. At the ceremony, Silverman honored her mother with a few jokes.
According to E! Online, O'Hara married Donald Silverman in October 1961. After a divorce, she married John O'Hara in June 1987.
