A Canadian weather reporter found a live scorpion in his bag of bananas after buying them at Costco.

Nathan Coleman, a reporter for The Weather Network in Halifax, Nova Scotia, said his 11-year-old daughter spotted something squirming when he was unloading groceries after the shopping trip, the Globe and Mail reported.

Coleman initially dismissed the movement as being a slug, but after his mother put the bananas away, she saw the scorpion inside.

“It was as scary as it was shocking,” Coleman said, Globe and Mail reported.

Coleman's video of the scorpion was posted on The Weather Network website and viewed more than 114,000 times. Coleman said he took the scorpion to the Nova Scotia Museum of History where it is being observed, The Star reported.

A warehouse manager apologized and that Costco is investigating, Coleman said, but he thinks the bananas should be pulled from shelves for safety reasons.

“I think it would be funnier if I was younger,” Coleman said, the Globe and Mail reported, “but I have kids and having that (scorpion) in such close proximity, we were lucky.”

The weatherman hoped to find out whether the scorpion was venomous and how it got into his bag.

Twitter users urged caution with all Costco bananas and joked about the find.
